Hello, here's the passage for today: Matthew 7:13-14.

"Enter through the narrow gate.  For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  14But small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."

What Jesus is telling us is that many go through life without knowing Jesus and enter through the wide gate towards hell.  But there are only a few that enter the gate that leads to Heaven and life.  Only a few find it, couldn't we increase the number?  Share the Gospel with someone, because it leads to life after death and we all want that, don't we?

Hello,

I am very sorry about not having posting a day after  the John 3:16 post.  It was caused because of an error that wouldn't let me post this part, so I am very sorry.

The passage for today is Matthew 7:7-12:

"7Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you.8  For everyone who asks recieves; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

  9 Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will you give him a stone?  10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?  11If you, then, though are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!  12So in everything, do to others what they would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets."

Verse 7 says this to me.  Ask for the gift of eternal life, and it will be given to you.  When you seek Jesus, He will always be there for you to talk to.  He is waiting to let you in, He has given you this gift, but will you take it?  Verse 9-11 says that even evil people in this world know how to give good gifts to children so imagine what the gifts He can give us when we ask Him.  In verse 12, the golden rule is stated for it sums up the Old Testament.

Hey Everybody, got this little story from a friend.  Hope you enjoy.  It's called "John 3:16"

John 3:16

A little boy was selling newspapers on the corner,

the people were in and out of the cold.

The little boy was so cold that he wasn't trying to sell

many papers.

He walked up to a policeman and said, 'Mister,

you wouldn't happen to know where a poor boy could

find a warm place to sleep tonight would you?

You see, I sleep in a box up around the corner there and down the

alley and it's awful cold in there for tonight. Sure would be nice

to have a warm place to stay.'

The policeman looked down at the little boy and said, 'You go down

the street to that big white house and you knock

on the door. When they come out the door you just say John 3:16,

and they will let you in.'

So he did. He walked up the steps and knocked on the door, and a

lady answered. He looked up and said, 'John 3:16 ..' The lady said,

'Come on in, Son.'

She took him in and she sat him down in a split bottom rocker in

front of a great big old fireplace, and she went off.. The boy sat

there for a while and thought to himself:

John 3:16 ....I don't understand it, but it sure makes a cold boy

warm.

Later she came back and asked him 'Are you hungry? ' He said,

'Well, just a little. I haven't eaten in a couple of

days, and I guess I could stand a little bit of food,'

The lady took him in the kitchen and sat him down to a table full

of wonderful food. He ate and ate until he couldn't eat anymore.

Then he thought to himself:  John 3:16...

Boy, I sure don't understand it but it sure

makes a hungry boy full.

She took him upstairs to a bathroom to a huge bathtub

filled with warm water, and he sat there and soaked for a

while. As he soaked, he thought to himself: John 3:16 ...

I sure don't understand it, but it sure makes a dirty boy

clean... You know, I've not had a bath, a real bath, in my whole

life. The only bath I ever had was when I stood in front of that

big old fire hydrant as they flushed it out.

The lady came in and got him. She took him to a room,

tucked him into a big old feather bed, pulled the covers up around

his neck, kissed him goodnight and turned out the lights. As he lay

in the darkness and looked out the

window at the snow coming down on that cold night,

he thought to himself: John 3:16 .....I don't understand it but it

sure makes a tired boy rested.

The next morning the lady came back up and took him

down again to that same big table full of food. After he

ate, she took him back to that same big old split bottom

rocker in front of the fireplace and picked up a big old Bible.

She sat down in front of him and looked into his young face.

'Do you understand John 3:16 ? ' she asked gently. He replied, 'No,

Ma'am, I don't. The first time I ever heard it was last night when

the policeman told me to use it,'

She opened the Bible to John 3:16 and began to explain

to him about Jesus . Right there, in front of that big old

fireplace, he gave his heart and life to Jesus. He sat there and

thought: John 3:16 --I don't understand it, but it sure makes a

lost boy feel safe.

You know, I have to confess I don't understand it either,

how God was willing to send His Son to die for me, and howJesus

would agree to do such a thing. I don't understand the agony of the

Father and every angel in heaven as they watched Jesus suffer and

die. I don't understand the intense love for ME that kept Jesus on

the cross till the end. I don't understand it, but it sure does

make life worth living..

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only

begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,

but have everlasting life....

Jesus said, 'If you are ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of you

before my Father.'

I do Love God . He is my source of existence...... He keeps me

functioning each and every day. Phil 4:13 If you love God and are

not ashamed of all the marvelous things he has done for you.

This part is about Prayer from Matthew 6:5-15.  Here's the scripture:

"5 And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men.  I tell you the truth, they have recieved their reward in full.6  But when you pray to your Father, who is unseen.  Then oyur Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.7  And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard becasue of their many words.8  Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.9  This, then is how you should pray:                                         

 "Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

10 your kingdom come,

your will be done

on earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us today our daily bread.

12 Forgive us our debts,

   as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation

but deliver us from the evil one."

14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you.15  But if you forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."

I think one of the key verses in this passage is verse 8.  "For your Father knows what you need before you ask him."  He already knows whether you're going through a hard time or have other people that need big help, or if you have specific needs.  Jesus also teaches us how to pray.  In verses 9-10, Jesus says to remember him as the one and only God.  Then He says to ask for what you and others need (Prayer Requests).  Then in verse 12, He says to confess our sins to God and ask to be forgiven.  Finally, Jesus says to ask Jesus to lead us and guide us and "deliver us from the evil one."  14-15 explain 12 really well too.

Hey everybody, sorry about not having a post in a while, here goes.

Today's passage is in Matthew 6:1-4:

"Be careful not to do your "acts of righteousness" before men, to be seen by them.  If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in Heaven.

2 So when giving to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men.  I tell you the truth, they have recieved their reward in full.3  But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret.  Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

This passage is saying to keep from letting people know that you did something for the Lord, instead don't let anyone else know.  Sometimes this is hard when you do certain things but like not saying "Look at what I did there, yep, that's all mine."  Sayings like that make people want to credit you for doing that, but you've "recieved your reward in full".  Instead do certain tasks quietly by not boasting about them.

This part is about Loving your Enemies.

This is from Matthew 5:43-48

43"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your Neighbor and Hate your Enemy.'  44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.  He causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.46  If you love those who love you, what reward will you get?  Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet your brothers, what are you doing more than others?  Do not even pagans do that?48  Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect."

In 43, Jesus is talking about the Jewish leaders who say this.  But Jesus says to them to do almost the complete opposite with your enemies which is what we should do too.  Jesus says from 45- 47 that the sun rises and sets, the rain comes on you too, both even greet brothers and friends the same way.

In 48, Jesus is calling us to be more like Him when we have our enemies.  For one thing, God just sees any sin as sin.  There is no with him a worse sin than another sin.  Sin is sin.

The next part is over Giving to the needy.  This is in Chapter 6, Verses 1-4.

One of the most confusing parts about scripture is when Jesus talks about being salt and light to the world.  Here's the passage: Matthew 5:13-16

"13 You are the salt of the earth.  But if the salt loses it's saltiness, how can it be made salty again?  It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

14 You are the light of the world.  A city on a hill can't be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on it's stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.16  In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven."

Salt:

Salt is as most people know give other foods flavor and more taste.  Jesus wants us to keep the word fresh and keep it fresh in our hearts.  In 13, it says "if it loses it's saltiness, how can it be made salty again?" Once you lose the Word, and don't hide it in your hearts, it will be worthless only to be "trampled by men".

Light:

Remember the song in sunday school that was titled "This Little Light of Mine"?  If you don't remember, watch this...

Ok, that was kind of for fun.  There is a point to that song though.  We don't want to hide our light.  We want it to shine for everybody to see, every day.  We should always be ready to share the Gospel whenever we get a opportunity.  So let's our light shine for the Lord!

Next part is over Loving your enemies in Matthew 5:43-48.

Today will be verses 11-12 in Matthew chapter 5.

"11 Blessed are you when people insult you, presecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in Heaven, for in the same way they presecuted the prophets before you.

This is kind of what I think a extension of verse 10.

"Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Now go back and read 11 and 12.

In Acts 16, Paul Silas praise God in the midst of their prison...

"About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them."

My question for you is "Are you willing to stand for Jesus and face trouble if your faith or your God, Jesus Christ is challenged by other people?  Be ready to make a stand.

"Put on the full armour of God, shielding you from the devil's schemes"

I know that even I should do a much better job at hiding God's word in my heart so I can be ready if my faith is challenged.  What about you?

In the next part of the Sermon of the Mount, the next post will be about Salt and Light...

Today is verses 6-10 from Matthew 5.

6"Blessed are those who hunger and thrist for righteousness,

for they will be filled.

7Blessed are the merciful,

for they will be shown mercy.

8Blessed are the pure in heart,

for they will see God.

9Blessed are the peacemakers,

for they will be called Sons of God.

10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Verse 6 talks about the ones who always search for God to pray to.

Verse 8 talks about people who keep their hearts clean of sin, of course they're not perfect, but when they mess up they go and ask for forgiveness with God.

And Verse 10 is about the people who are persecuted for Jesus' name for they will get the kingdom of heaven.

The next part will be verses 11-12.  A short one, but it explains verse 10 a lot better than I did.

Christian Life Ministries John 14:6

I was reading lately the Beatitudes and was remembering how good of a passage it is.  I wanted to share it with you:

Today will be Matthew 5:1-5.  This is NIV.

"Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside.  His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them, saying:

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth."

The poor in spirit are the ones who are grateful for anything and are glad to get anything.  Jesus is saying they will get to Heaven by doing that.

But what's most important is accepting Jesus into your life.  Read about it on the Salvation page.

Tommorow will be Part 2 which is Verses 6-10.
